wild like october

IMG_9484 (1)For once, we were wild like October:

Letting our feelings fall like the leaves under out feet,
Ripened like the apples in the abounding orchards,
Leaving light as so did the country’s harvest moon,
Searching and preparing like the animals of the Forrest for wintertime,
Quiet like the hushed, crisp, and dark mornings,
Flying homeward into the south on our wings like the birds,
But preserving what was made to last like the evergreen.
