But as of late, my family has been playing the music and bringing on the fetivities early. We have many reasons we decided to this, but one reason I truly have been enjoying the celebreation of an early Christmas is this: Christmas season is the season of Advent. Advent is the time of period awaiting Christmas, awaiting the birth of Christ, awaiting the fullfillment of the promise of God to save souls. Ever since my conversion, this time has been sweeter. It’s not just Christmas anymore, it’s a special time of thanksgiving for the amazing gift of Jesus Christ becoming fully man, also fully God, and would one day die on the cross.
Thanksgiving is the perfect kick off to Christmas! It’s a beginning of a whole season of thanksgiving to God to send Christ Jesus.
So that is why I don’t mind turning on the music a little early, and getting in the festive mood. Our God was born! After hundreds of years of waiting, the people of the Lord received their savior. And still to this day, we celebrate the greatest news that ever was.
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
(Luke 2:14 ESV)
